Movement offers the opportunity to develop creativity and expression, it allows us to transform ourselves, create responses to new situations and give new responses to familiar situations. The focus is on promoting the activity of patients by placing them as protagonists of their health.

Dance therapy works according to the possibilities of each group and person, respecting their rhythms. It opens the space to work on the development of psychomotor coordination, the regulation of internal rhythm, the body scheme, the possibility of quieting down and letting go. Given that dance provides a form of expression that does not require spoken language, it offers alternatives to communication, understanding that each movement has a reason, a meaning, an associated emotion and that is what is integrated into the therapeutic process.

Begin to put words where there are none and learn to interpret the meaning of one's own movements.

How does this work?

It works from the relationship that is established between patient and therapist, and between all members when it comes to a group. A space is offered where the group finds its form of expression and each individual within can explore their own. The movement that we create expresses our interior on the exterior, and from there we work so that each one from their possibilities and needs finds their place of inclusion in daily life.

Older adults

Through the dynamics raised in the DMT encounters, bodily aspects of movement are worked on (fluidity, balance, speed, strength, coordination) as well as cognitive aspects linked to the understanding of instructions and links in the work with others. It works from playfulness and creativity through music and body movement.

Mental health

The focus is on promoting the activity of patients by placing them as protagonists of their health. Generate availability conditions so that they can learn from their behavior and emotions; create a place of trust, where you can express yourself without judgment, where you can begin to practice various forms depending on the occasion and context, but always your own forms.

Begin to put words where there are none and learn to interpret the meaning of one's own movements.

Health personnel - Caring for those who care

The first step in caring for, assisting and supporting others is to do it first with yourself. The daily contact with illness and death places an extra demand on health workers physically, emotionally and mentally.

It is proven that psychic tension generates a physical-emotional discomfort that is reflected in a detriment of the ability to cope with daily tasks, and may increase errors and deficiency in productive capacity. To accompany those who accompany residents in the institutions, the proposal is a comprehensive approach from dance therapy and other body practices that include yoga and meditation, offering exercises that promote mental and physical relaxation to ensure the necessary relief to continue with the performance and development of daily tasks.
